Vented Gas Logs

Emberside gas log sets require little maintenance. We do recommend having a professional inspect and clean the appliance and fireplace flue each year before turning on your set.

Some carbon deposit or soot resulting from combustion is natural and adds to the realistic appearance. If needed, you can lightly brush or vacuum away excess soot.

Your gas log manual includes troubleshooting information as well.

Vent-free Gas Logs

Below are cleaning and maintenance recommendations for vent-free gas logs:

  • We recommend that you clean the unit every three months during operation and have the heater inspected annually by a professional.
  • Always keep the burner and control compartment clean and free of dust and dirt.
  • Keep the primary air inlet holes clear of dust, dirt, lint and pet hair, as blocked air holes will create soot.
  • See installation and operating instructions accompanying heater and inspect these areas of the fireplace before use.

Your gas log set manual includes additional details on cleaning and maintenance along with troubleshooting information. Only a qualified professional should service and repair your gas log set.
